The Apostolic Faith Church was founded in 1985 by Pastor Amos Ilcéus with the help of God and 13 members. Despite financial struggles, they gathered every Sunday at the Free Methodist Church in Montreal, renting the space for $130 per month. In 1988, after being ordered to stop activities due to safety issues, the church miraculously purchased a building at 3140 Henri Bourassa for $156,000, despite having limited financial resources.
The church grew steadily, and in 1990, Reverend Joseph D-Estimé joined as assistant pastor. With his support, the church expanded both spiritually and numerically. In 1996, under the leadership of Sister Lunise Castor Ilcéus, a Thursday prayer fast was introduced. This practice became a powerful source of spiritual refreshment and blessing for the congregation.
In 1998, Brother Dunor Limène and his wife, Jeannette, took over the prayer fast, which continued to grow in significance. That same year, the church formed its first large choir under the direction of Maestro Cam. His musical expertise greatly enriched the worship experience, attracting more members and strengthening the church’s sense of community.
By 2004, the church had outgrown its space. Through God’s grace, they sold their building and purchased a much larger one at 8060 rue de Chamilly, Saint-Léonard, which was seven times bigger. This expansion marked a new chapter of growth, as the church continued its mission of serving the community and glorifying God.
